Working Through
2016

Working through was a live experimental performance piece based on working through trauma; which advocates the art making process as a form of self-therapy. The material components are largely symbolic - the domineering, phallic like frame inhibits the tightly knitted fabric representing trauma and the gentle process of untangling which can be interpreted as literally working through the impediment and constraint. The piece is thus far performed as a ritual liberation; the objective being that the wool once untethered is rolled into palm-sized sections, which are symbolically, then dipped in wax representing the innate reflex to protective us from further harm.
